The mission
From ‘Milo tin kosong’ to an upstream force
Hibiscus Petroleum began as an unproven SPAC that few believed would amount to much. Fifteen years later, it needed a book that captured not only what the company had achieved, but the people who believed, built and carried it there.
The human truth
The milestones belonged to the people
An anniversary book could not read like a corporate timeline. The meaning lived in the people behind each first – the convictions they held, the doubts they faced and the moments they witnessed. Their voices had to make the history human.
The move
Let the stories shape the book
We began with the stories. Interviews spanning the Chairman to the employee who stood on the rig when first oil arrived revealed the doubts, decisions and human moments behind the milestones. From that wealth of material, The Cavalry found the central idea strong enough to hold the book together. From that idea, we developed several creative routes, each with its own title, subtitle, cover concept, visual language and interior design system. The Cavalry leads the creative direction and design while contributing original interviews and writing. The narrative structure is developed collaboratively with Revon Media, the book’s publisher and editorial partner. The book is now in development as the client reviews the title and design direction.
